Stay Home With Your Kids Day

July 15, 2000 - Home based business woman, Christine Nicholls is preparing to celebrate the fourth annual "Stay Home with Your Kids Day" on Monday August 21, 2000.  WAHM.com,   The Online Magazine for Work at Home Moms (WAHM), is sponsoring the third annual Stay Home With Your Kids Day. The purpose of the day is to encourage and support those parents who have chosen to be home with their children.

Cheryl Demas, publisher of the WAHM.com web site, and the author of "The Work at Home Mom's Guide to Home Business", says "If you're thinking about leaving the traditional workplace, "Stay Home with Your Kids Day" is the perfect opportunity to take a vacation day and give serious thought to making the change.  Leaving your job may not be an easy decision, but if your heart aches every time you drive away from the daycare centre in the morning, it might be time to look at other options." And there are many options for parents today, aside from working full-time outside the home. Many parents are finding that working from home is the perfect solution to their work/home dilemma.

As Cheryl Demas states, "If we can have a day to take our children to work, we should be able to devote one day to staying home with our children. While we realize that not all parents can or wish to be home full time with their kids, WAHM.com is dedicated to giving advice and support to those who have found a way to make it work. Give it a try, ‘Mom’ can be the best job description you've ever had."

Ms. Nicholls has been running Creative Kids at Home from her home since December 1999. Being at home has given her a chance to put family first, while still using the skills she developed earning an MBA. According to Ms. Nicholls, “Home-based entrepreneur was not the job title I thought I was working towards. However, opening Creative Kids at Home has given me the chance to combine two important priorities. My kids have their Mom and I have the challenge of starting a new business.”

The first year can be difficult for any business. Home-based entrepreneurs face unique challenges letting customers know about their products. Success may be just around the corner for Ms. Nicholls. Today’s Parent Magazine has selected the Creative Kids at Home Craft Subscription to be the featured product in their ‘on the market’ section for the November 2000 issue.

How will Ms. Nicholls be spending “Stay at Home with Your Kids Day”? “I’ll be very busy with product development. That is, I’ll be doing crafts with my kids.” she says with a smile.
