Tie Snakes

Materials
tie
stuffing
thread and needle or hot glue gun
red felt
wiggle eyes

collect old ties or get them from a thrift shop.
sew or hot glue the smaller end closed.
have the children stuff the tie with Polly fill, or even old panty hose.
cut out tongues out of red felt and glued it under the point on the big end of the tie.
glue on large wiggle eyes on the top of the big end.

Idea

If you are making snakes in as a group, you can display them in a "tree" that was suspended with yarn from the corner of the room. Have the kids twist brown paper into long vines. Wrap the "vines" around the yarn going up the corner of the wall. Wrap the snakes around the vine with their head looking down.

Hint

Open a coat hanger and run it through the snake to make it easier to bend the body into a specific shape. Be sure to bend both ends of the wire into a circle so that there are no sharp points that could stick out.
