Fridge Magnets

Fun to make, and useful too!

 Fridge Magnets

Fridge magnets are great craft project for any event, holiday, or theme.  Sports fans can make soccer balls, baseball bats, or even an ice rink.  At Halloween, make Jack-o-Lanterns, witches or ghosts.  In the spring, make bird's nests, flowers, or baby animals.  Let the kids pick their own ideas!

Fridge Magnets

Materials List

magnet
background material
clothespin or clip
(like plastic, felt, or cardboard)
glue
decorations

Instructions

  1. The children can cut a shape from their favorite sport, theme character, hobby or even a food. They can cut out their chosen shape from anything sturdy (plastic container lids, stiff cardboard).
  2. Color, paint, decorate with sparkles, feathers, glitter, or draw in details with markers.
  3. Glue onto a wooden clothespin.
  4. Cut a piece of self-sticking magnet and attach it to the other side of the clothespin, or use glue to attach a regular magnet.

Your fridge magnet is ready to hold notes, artwork etc.  You can skip the clothespin and put the magnet directly on the back of your themed cutouts, but then its less functional.

Hints

  1. If they are having trouble with the shapes, create templates from pictures.
  2. Skip the clothespin and put the magnet directly on the back of your themed cutouts, but then its less functional.
