A Big DollThe best gift I received as a child was a 3 and 1/2-foot doll. I was 7 years old when my twin-sister and I went to the department store with my parents and 4 older siblings to pick out a doll. Of course, we didn't know what the surprise would be until we got to the store. We were just beside ourselves, because it was not Christmas nor was it our birthday and our parents were buying us a gift. We were the youngest of 6 kids, didn’t have much money or the popular toys as we were used to getting second hand toys, or smaller toys. Getting this doll meant a lot to us, as it made us feel equal to our friends who always had the newest toys on the block. It still wasn’t the doll that spoke, ate, soiled her diaper and walker, but to my sister and I, this doll was magic. In our eyes, it could talk and walk just like the other dolls. 30 years later, my sister and I still have very fond memories of this doll. My two daughters now get to hear the story about this doll and get to play with it like we did. Thanks to Sylvie for sharing this story about a special doll.
